Amazing cities each offering a different atmosphere

While the entire region is picture-perfect and each town has its own story to tell, a few locales deserve particular attention. “Cool” may be a matter of personal opinion, but these towns are among the most noteworthy in Portugal’s holiday hotspot:

Albufeira: Perhaps the liveliest town is Albufeira, a tourist-heavy destination that sits in the center of the coast, and it may also be the best town when looking for a party.
Vilamoura: Modern, resort-friendly and sophisticated, Vilamoura is an ultra-cool town filled with gorgeous sights, fantastic restaurants, shopping opportunities and beaches. The Vilamoura Marina is among the best evening destinations in the region and one of the top towns in the Algarve for golf.
Tavira lies along the slow flowing Gilão River, and is a delightful mix of traditional Portuguese heritage with deep-rooted Moorish influences. Concealed within the labyrinth of cobbled streets are traditionally tiled houses, family run restaurants, and a myriad of decorative churches.
Olhão: small town on the Rio Formosa. The fish market on the waterfront is still Olhão's main draw. A quaint and energetic place, the market sells local produce such as fruit, honey and live chickens as well as a huge variety of fresh local fish. The old quarter of Olhão has a distinctly Moorish feel, with square whitewashed houses, flat terraced roofs and box-shaped chimneys.
